121916_Christmas Bokeh 03
I have been nearsighted most of my life, so seeing lights as blobs was no new thing when I started learning about bokeh in photography. In moments of stress, in needing to escape, I would take off my glasses and watch the giant blobs of light that were the world dance around. The holidays hurt more when you are an adult, and when the world just sucks. So tonight on a walk out in the bitter cold, I saw a display that made me happy, and photos of it in focus just took away from that little warm bit of light magic in the cold. Throwing it out... the bokeh... I was briefly dipped back into those blobs of light, that momentary lapse of stress.
